BITPAPER
a blockchain made of paper
BitPaper is a coin backed by paper. Not by a reserve, not by a treasury, not by a promise — by the sheet itself, which you can hold, fold and photocopy. There is no chart, no group chat and no reason to call your brother-in-law. There is a ledger, and as long as nobody looks it holds everything and nothing at once.
Move your mouse across this page and you are taking a measurement. Every measurement makes the network behave differently — that is not a bug in the site, that is the entire idea.
Check this string against the Noxa page before you act on it. This is a sheet of paper; it cannot vouch for a string. Running on Robinhood Chain is not the same as being listed by a broker, and nobody has said it is.

No, this is not BitCoin.
BitCoin lives in a wallet. BitPaper lives in a drawer.
The confusion is fair. Both words start with “Bit”, both keep a ledger, and both get explained at parties by someone who started three weeks ago. That is where the similarity ends.
It is a coin. It is simply not that coin. A coin backed by paper is still a coin — it is the backing that is unusual, not the coin.
BitCoin is digital money that burns energy to find numbers. BitPaper is paper that computes. It folds, it dithers, and it returns exactly one bit per measurement: black, or white.

The quantum ledger
QPU-01 · dithered state sphere · 8×8 Bayer · one bit per pixel
Every node keeps one sheet. While nobody is looking, that sheet is written and blank at the same time — the ledger records both lines, underscored by a rule that does not exist yet either.
Move your cursor across the field and you measure. The qubits under your mouse pick a side, the packets around them swerve, and the network writes the outcome down in black or in white. Look away and everything drifts happily back into superposition. The ledger disagrees, but the ledger is paper.
Note: the state sphere is 228 pixels wide on purpose. More resolution would imply that we know.
03
Blocks are being folded
Every few seconds a node folds a new block. A block is three sheets, one staple and a hash nobody verifies, because verifying is a measurement.

The token is live.
The ticker is $BitPaper, it is pegged to paper — one BitPaper is one sheet, and the peg holds because paper does not move — and it runs on Robinhood Chain, which is a chain and not a broker's opinion of us. You can buy it at Noxa, linked at the top of this page, and the address there is the only one. That is the whole announcement. No thread, no countdown, no man in front of a ring light explaining why this time is different.
One channel, and no plans for a second. Everything else on that list stays exactly where it is.
BitPaper is what it is.
What one BitPaper looks like on paper is printed in 06.
Nothing on this page is a price, an offer or advice. It is paper.

Stop printing and compatibility ends
Compatible here means the sheet fits in the tray. $BitPaper does run on Robinhood Chain, which anyone at all can deploy to — that is a chain, not a listing, not an endorsement and not a relationship. There is no listing, no bridge, no pair and no partnership with any name on this sheet; none of them have heard of BitPaper, and BitPaper has not asked. The compatibility is entirely yours: it works perfectly for exactly as long as you keep printing it, and the moment the tray is empty it stops working everywhere at once.

Your wallet is a photocopier
Here is the note. Save it, then copy it once for every BitPaper you hold — the stack of copies is your balance, and the same stack is your backup. There is no seed phrase to write on a card and hide behind the boiler. There is a photocopier, and there is a drawer.

Every photocopy of one sheet carries that sheet's address. That is not a flaw, that is consensus. Mint a unique sheet and it gets an address of its own, which is the only thing that has ever told one piece of paper from another.
Issued from this page: 1 sheet.
Saving asks you to confirm first. If no prompt appears, right-click the note and choose “Save image”. ⌘P prints one sheet per BitPaper.
Each copy is a copy of the copy before it, so the ink thickens, the sheet tilts and the microprint gives up. The ledger accepts all of them. Nobody has ever been asked to prove which one was first.
07
The print run
A printer has been running since the first of January 2024 and nobody has located the switch. The total below is not stored anywhere and not counted by anybody — it is worked out from the clock, which is why it can only ever go up. Come back tomorrow and it will be higher than it is now. That is the only promise on this page, and it is about a printer.

The press is not read on a tick. It is read at a random moment between one and thirty seconds, so the jump is a different size every time — which is roughly how often anybody checks on a printer that has been left running.

A stack is a chain, standing up
Lay one sheet on another and you have run consensus. The sheet underneath is the previous block, the sheet on top is the new one, and the corner where they meet is the hash. Block after block, all of it unique, all of it BitPaper. Someone will now explain this at length.

Talking for 0s · interruptions 0 · interrupting would be a measurement
Every sheet in that pile is unique. You can tell, because it is a different sheet. That is the whole security model and it has never once been broken by anyone who was not already in the room.
09
Nature is the owner
Every sheet was a tree first, which makes the forest the only shareholder BitPaper has ever had. Below is the ledger as it actually grows: each leaf is a sheet with its own hash, every branch carries the hash of the leaves above it, and the root hash is a root. Nobody has told the trees. The trees have not asked.

You are holding it
That is the whole custody model. It is also on the chain, because the sheet is the chain — there is no second copy filed somewhere else that could one morning disagree with the one in your hand.
We accept it from each other
BitPaper is worth exactly what the next person will take it for. That is not a flaw in BitPaper. It is the arrangement every currency has always run on, BitCoin included. BitPaper is simply the only one that prints it on the front.
And the carbon
The tree took it out of the air, you printed it back onto the sheet, and the sheet holds it in a drawer. Net zero, provided nobody sets fire to their balance.
And in a crisis
In a crisis you will be holding a sheet of paper. So, in one form or another, will everybody else. Whether that is the entire problem or the entire point depends on who is holding the other end of it.
Legal tender nowhere, legal to hold everywhere — a distinction the sheet is comfortable with. Still not a price, still not an offer, still not advice. Still paper.

When the power goes out
Chainlink is the connector: it carries facts and value between chains that cannot otherwise speak to each other, and it does that job properly. It has also never heard of BitPaper. What every chain and every connector between them has in common is a wall socket — pull that, and the nodes, the bridges and the oracles are all equally unreachable. Which is why BitPaper is printed in advance.
Power onChains reachable 3 / 3Connectors up 1Sheets readable 1 · always
The connector
Between two chains there has to be something both of them will believe. That is a real job and Chainlink does it. It also runs on electricity, like everything else in the diagram above.
The outage
No power, no node. No node, no chain. No chain, no bridge, no oracle and no connector. The ledger is completely intact and completely unreachable, which for as long as it lasts is the same thing as gone.
Printed in advance
A sheet printed while the power was on stays readable while the power is off — by daylight, by candle, by anybody who can be handed it. That is the whole advantage, and on the day it matters it is not a small one.
This is a joke about electricity, not a plan. Still not a price, still not an offer, still not advice. Still paper.

The folding protocol
01
Paper
Take one sheet. Unused, 80 g/m², not yet measured and never left in the sun.
02
Fold
Fold along the diagonal until the sheet holds two states at once. You will feel the resistance.
03
Superposition
Leave it alone. Do not look at it. This is the computation — the rest is paperwork.
04
Print
Measure, and print the result in one bit. Black or white. There is no third colour and it would add nothing.

BitPaper officially released
Three exchanges said to be forming a queue — the queue has not been located — condition remains that the token must be backed by paper
The drawer, today — BitPaper was officially released this morning at 9:04, in the sense that a sheet was taken out of a drawer, looked at, and put back.
The release was confirmed by the only party present, who had also written the confirmation the evening before.
Coinbase, Kraken and Binance are, according to this newspaper and to no other source of any kind, standing in a queue to host it. The queue has not been located. Efforts to find it were abandoned when it emerged that this newspaper had also invented the corridor.
All three are said to have set the same condition: BitPaper must be backed by paper before it can be listed. This is understood to be the point at which everybody stopped talking.
Paper backed by paper is the strongest guarantee currently available, in that nothing can break it except scissors. It is also the only guarantee that costs nothing to honour, because honouring it requires no action of any kind.
“It gives the sheet value,” said nobody, to nobody, at no point.
A spokesperson for the drawer declined to comment, on the grounds that a drawer does not have one.
The token board elsewhere on this page has been changed to read LIVE, which is the first time that board and this newspaper have agreed about anything.
At the close of business the sheet was worth exactly one sheet, unchanged on the day, as it has been every day since it was cut.
Nothing in this column happened. No company named here has said anything — not to this newspaper, which does not exist, and not to anyone else. There is no listing, no queue, no corridor and no release. It is a joke printed on a joke, and it is still only paper.
